Fruit Bat- Seychelles

Large populations of the Giant Fruit Bat, or' Flying Fox' Pteropus seychellensis are found throughout the Seychelles archipelego as well as the Comoros and a couple islands off the coast of Tanzania. They are primarily though not strictly nocturnal, with the odd individual seen flying over forest at all times of the day. They emerge in large numbers from dense colonies in the evenings, often flying considerable distances between islands. The wingspan of this individual could be around 75 cm (30").
