Amboseli Lion
Amboseli lions commonly look somewhat shabby due to skin conditions caused by living in/on the salt-flats. This young black-maned male looks pretty good, possibly a visitor from outside the area.

Amboseli Elephants- The New Generation
With a two year gestation period, elephants are slow to respond to changing environmental conditions in terms of birth-rates. A classic baby boom has been observed in Amboseli with over 200 calves added to the herds during 2012. The trigger was the end of a long drought in 2010 and exceptionally good rains through to the present.

Goshawk- Laikipia Kenya

tip to the tail.... otherwise the more common Pale Chanting Goshawk.
Hard to tell when perched.

Yellow-throated Long Claw, Masai Mara Kenya
A Yellow-throated Long Claw from the Masai Mara. Note how browsed down
this vegetation is- got to be tough to survive that!
And for a good example of 'convergent evolution', check out just how similar the north American Meadowlark is to this bird.... similar dry grassland habitats as well.
